About Mazoola & COPPA

No.  Synapse is our backend software provider, and partners with financial institutions to provide FDIC insurance. Synapse’s API, and their relationship with financial institutions, enables us to offer banking services and products.

The Mazoola COPPA Compliant Digital Family Wallet is designed to help children learn about financial responsibility by providing them a forum to safely save and spend money online, within the parameters set by you, their parent!

You would begin by creating a parent account. Normally as part of that you would link to a bank account you would use to load funds into the account as needed. For our Beta users, we will be providing some money for you to give your kids, so you can skip this step if you like. You would then create a child account. Once you create a child account, you can tap on them to set limits and parameters that your child will need to meet regarding spending. You would then transfer money from “Your Wallet” to your child’s wallet so they will have some money to spend. The dollar value in the accounts of your child’s profile indicates the amount of money that you’ve made available to them.

Then, you give your child access to the account you created for them so that they are able to make transactions online using the special virtual card that gets created for their use and without having to exchange any of their personal information with merchants. In this way, the Mazoola Family Wallet and REGO Payment Architectures, Inc. are in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

So, it is basically a completely secure way for children to learn about how to handle their own finances online while keeping their privacy secure. It helps them to learn and feel empowered while you, as the parent, remain in charge.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act is a U.S. federal law designed to prohibit the collection and use of personal information about children by the operators of Internet services and Web sites. Passed by the U.S. Congress in 1998, the law took effect in April 2000. It is administered and enforced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

The Mazoola Digital Family Wallet App, by REGO Payment Architectures, Inc., is the only digital family app for kids that is in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) & GDPR. Our patented technology allows your child to shop online without ever having to provide their information.

Your Mazoola account is an FDIC insured and protected bank account. The government requires every bank to verify a customer’s identity before opening an account. Like most banks, we use your Social Security Number to verify your identity. We don’t run a credit check and all of your data is encrypted and stored at the bank. More information is available on the FDIC website.

For the safety of your identity, our verification process use the same address listed on your bank account. You should use the address where you send your bank statements. At this time we cannot accept P.O. Box addresses.

Linking your bank account is a 2 step process.

Step 1: Provide your details. Your account will show as ‘Unverified’ in your list of accounts. Within 1 – 2 days, we will make two micro-deposits, typically less than .25 cents, to your bank account.

Step 2: Verify your account. Once you receive these deposits, return to Mazoola and tap “Account” from the pull-down menu at the top of the home screen, then tap “Banking”, then tap the “Unverified” account under your list of accounts.”

Deposits made from your bank account into Mazoola account will go through ACH and take 3-5 business days to settle into your account per their regulations and timing.

If you maintain a balance on your Current account as a parent, you can avoid waiting for additional deposits by transferring settled funds from your balance to your teens instantly. While the initial deposit into your balance will follow the above timing, it’s a great way to transfer money to your child’s more quickly and on the weekends

To close your Mazoola account, please go to your Profile in the app and tap ‘Delete Account’.

Please note that this action cannot be undone and will also close any child accounts created by you. Should you have funds remaining in your or your child’s wallet, these funds will be returned to you within 7-10 business days via ACH to the bank account you have linked.

No, we do not run your credit. As part of our stringent fraud prevention measures, we check your identity against information on file with credit & public agencies.

Mazoola is fee-free! There is no charge for using Mazoola and the App is free to download. We believe that protecting your children while they shop is a right and shouldn’t cost you.
